The Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, has imposed administrative fines on two companies for responsible gambling violations.
Glitnor Services has been issued a warning and fined SEK 28 million ($2.79 million) for violating the Gambling Act's duty of care clause.
Ten of the twelve consumers audited received no assistance from the company when they began to engage in excessive gaming.
Three of them were between the ages of 18 and 24, a particularly vulnerable demographic.
Customer five bet every hour for 23 consecutive days; customer four bet 3,200 times in five and a half hours; and customer six lost 24% of their annual revenue in three days.
Although Glitnor contacted the clients, this had no effect on their playing patterns, so the Authority considers these efforts futile and says that the corporation should have taken more drastic actions.
Following this, Glitnor implemented significant adjustments to improve customer service, including new processes for follow-up measures.
Glitnor Services runs games on the website luckycasino.com.
Roar Vegas!
Roar Vegas received an administrative penalties of SEK 8 million after being judged to have violated its duty of care.
In a similar investigation, the Spelinspektionen discovered that Roar Vegas had not adequately assisted three of the twelve clients it examined.
Customer six logged in for between six and twelve hours each day; customer nine logged in for 16 hours at one time; and they, along with customer eight, followed a gaming pattern in which the majority of the money was lost quickly after deposit.
Roar Vegas did impose deposit limits on these customers, but the Spelinspektionen believes that effective safeguards should have been implemented sooner.
Roar Vegas is licensed for commercial online gaming and betting and runs games on the website leovegas.com.
The nearby gaming regulator, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, recently produced a list of risky gambling behaviour indicators, which have since been adopted by other industry participants.
