Sweden easily defeated Azerbaijan 6-0 in their Nations League match Thursday night. However, if not for a VAR ruling, there could have been even more.
The home team was leading 3-0 in the first half when Viktor Gyökeres passed the ball to Alexander Isak, who scored to make it 4-0 before the interval. This was not the case, however, as VAR ruled out the score despite Isak being clearly onside according to replays.
As a result, Paddy Power has declared that it would pay out to everyone who had Isak as an anytime goalscorer throughout the game.
In a post on Paddy Power's X (previously Twitter) account, it read: "JUSTICE PAYOUT! Following an offside judgement that even the PGMOL would be embarrassed by, we are paying out on all anytime goalscorer bets on Alexander Isak versus Azerbaijan. This applies to all singles, bet builders, and multiples. There is no maximum stake and all payouts are in cash. "T&Cs apply."
In the past, the operator has not been afraid to take on such ventures.
Last season, it paid out early on Sheffield United's relegation from the Premier League in March, after a 6-0 thrashing by Arsenal dropped the Blades 11 points behind 17th place.
Meanwhile, after only the first match of the Scottish Premiership season, Paddy Power bet early on Celtic to win the league as the current champions began their campaign with a win, while fierce rivals Rangers drew 0-0 against Hearts.
